Electric co-op offers scholarships for apprentice program

Interested in becoming a lineworker and learning how to construct, maintain and repair electrical power line systems?

Flathead Electric Cooperative recently established two $5,000 scholarships to support local students interested in attending the pre-apprentice line program at Highlands College at Montana Technical University – better known as Montana Tech in Butte. These scholarships are funded by the member-owned cooperative’s unclaimed capital credits.

The one-semester certificate program prepares students for groundman and apprentice positions within the line trade. Students learn how to assist with the installation, construction, maintenance and repair of electrical power line systems. In addition, they earn their CDL Class A license…
