Charleston Animal Society urges pet owners to protect animals from cold weather risks

LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — As temperatures drop throughout the Lowcountry, Charleston Animal society is reminding pet owners to take precautions to protect their pets from the cold.

They recommend limiting pets outdoor activities as cold weather can catch some animals by surprise and frostbite and hypothermia can set in quickly in below-freezing temperatures.

Pets that are old, very young or with medical conditions like diabetes can struggle to regulate their body temperature making them especially venerable, according to Charleston Animal Society…
