North Charleston Elementary is making significant academic gains. They have an exciting and engaging school environment and strong community partnerships. NCES receives the News 2 Cool School award. North Charleston Elementary School moved from “Below Average” to “Good” in four years on the State Report Card. NCES is a Title One school with 345 students. Principal Melissa Brubaker attributes their academic gains to data-driven strategies, solid instruction, access to high-quality curriculum, providing professional development and support for teachers, the House system, and a community partnership with the Liberty Hill Stem Initiative, which brought Project Lead the Way to the school.
