Dispute involving firearm, knife lands Winder couple in jail

A domestic dispute escalated into violence late Dec. 15, resulting in the arrests of a Winder couple on multiple charges, including aggravated assault and cruelty to children.

The Winder Police Department responded to the couple’s home on Georgia Avenue shortly before midnight after receiving a 911 call. Upon arrival, officers reported hearing yelling from inside the house and found the front door open. Inside, Kareema Ponder, 40, was described as being in a “fit of rage,” according to police.
