The winter storm that is bearing down on northeast Georgia will bring snow and possibly sleet and freezing rain on Friday, weather forecasters predicted on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service is continuing to evaluate the storm, staff meteorologist Dylan Lusk said Wednesday, “but either way it goes there will be impacts out there and travel may be challenging especially on untreated roadways.”
The storm is currently expected to reach the Athens area sometime between 5 and 7 a.m., which Lusk said places it in the busy commuter time when vehicles are on the roadways for jobs and schools…
