The Monterey Plainsmen defeat the El Paso Bel Air Highlanders 63-0.
The Plainsmen got on the board in a hurry as they scored a rushing touchdown in just 23 seconds taking an early 7-0 lead. The Highlanders offense struggled to move the ball against a stout Plainsmen defense as they failed to get on the board in the first quarter. The Plainsmen offense however, found the endzone on all four of their first quarter possessions. Making the score 28-0 at the end of the first. After the defense forced a turnover, the offense was able to capitalize scoring yet another touchdown as Monterey began to run away with this one 35-0 shortly into the 2nd quarter. El Paso was able to get a drive going however, they were forced to attempt a field goal. Monterey blocked that field goal after a botched snap keeping the score at 35-0. The Plainsmen drove right down the field to score yet another 1st half touchdown. Six first half drives, six first half touchdowns for the Plainsmen making the score 42-0 going into halftime.
Monterey continued to run away with this one as they were able to score 21 more points in the 2nd half to El Paso’s 0. Making the final score 63-0. The El Paso Bel Air Highlanders just simply didn’t have an answer for the Plainsmen on either side of the ball…
