MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A man wanted on two counts of capital murder was extradited from Texas overnight and is now being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility, the Montgomery Police Department is confirming.
Bennie Humphrey Jr., 32, of Montgomery, is the suspect in the Oct. 25 double-murder investigation of Jeroderick Bell, 29, and Devin Ligon, 30, also of Montgomery.
The investigation started after police responded to the 500 block of North Eastern Boulevard just before 2 a.m. that morning. Both victims were rushed to area hospitals in life-threatening condition where they were pronounced dead.
MPD investigators reached out to the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force Birmingham office for help finding the suspect. Humphrey was arrested in Hutto, Texas, on Nov. 6 and remained in police custody while awaiting transfer back to Alabama…
