Lowndes Academy prevails over Morgan Academy in battle for playoff chance

Two AISA Football Championship playoff-bound teams collided at Morgan Academy for the first time in about 10 years Friday night.

But it was the Class AA powerhouse, No. 1 seed Lowndes Academy Rebels, who prevailed against the Class AAA three seed Morgan Academy Senators 44-12.

With their 28th straight victory, the Class AA Region 1 Rebels ended the regular season at 9-0 overall and 4-0 in region play. Their home playoff game will be against the Jackson Academy Eagles on Nov. 7. And with the loss, the 4-5 overall 2-2 Class AAA Region 2 Senators will travel for a playoff game against the Bessemer Academy Rebels on Nov. 8…
