‘No reason’ for state ban on Glock switches, Tuberville says

Alabama’s senior U.S. senator says “there’s no reason” to enact a state-level ban on Glock switches — devices that convert semiautomatic pistols to automatics.

WBMA reported on remarks Sen. Tommy Tuberville made Saturday about recent violence in Birmingham, including the mass shooting Sept. 21 outside the Hush lounge that killed four and left at least 17 wounded. Police said some of the gunfire came from a pistol outfitted with a conversion device, or Glock switch.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin has called for a state ban on Glock switches. The state House passed a ban in April, but the Senate did not move on the legislation. Rep. Phillip Ensler, D-Montgomery, has prefiled a similar bill for the next legislative session…
