Rain ending, much cooler air pushing in

Tonight: Light rain will continue falling across eastern Alabama through around midnight before finally pushing out of here early Wednesday. Low temperatures will be a bit cooler tonight, falling into the middle to upper 30s.

Wednesday: Breezy conditions following the passage of a cold front will allow for wind gusts to range from 15-25 mph through the day, especially during the morning. Wind chills will be in the upper 20s to low 30s starting our day as highs only reach the upper 40s with skies becoming mostly sunny.

Looking Ahead: A chilly air mass will arrive Wednesday and Thursday, but it will be short-lived. Temperatures will dive into the upper 20s to lower 30s on Thursday morning, providing a widespread freeze. Thankfully, sunshine will be with us for much of the second half of this work week. A few clouds return on Friday with highs back in the middle 50s.

As we move into this weekend, a weak disturbance along a very weak cold front will pass through, allowing for some scattered light rain showers mainly across our northern counties on Saturday evening and overnight into early Sunday. The majority of us will stay dry, but a few places could receive up to two-tenths of an inch of rain. Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy as highs continue to climb through the 50s.

We’ll reach the lower 60s on Sunday with continued cloudiness ahead of another weak cold front forecast to move through early next week. Low confidence on the timing, but it appears perhaps a few showers are possible Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will not be impacted much by these fronts as the warming trend holds steady into the lower 60s by the start of next week.
