On Sunday at 12:28 a.m. an updated tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 12:45 a.m. for Lowndes County.
“At 12:28 a.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Hayneville, moving northeast at 40 mph,” states the weather service. “Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.”
