IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A 30-year-old Hiddenite man died in a head-on collision on U.S. 64 in Iredell County on Sunday afternoon, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. when a 2005 Ford F-250 traveling westbound attempted to pass other westbound vehicles in a no-passing zone. The Ford collided with an eastbound 2025 Peterbilt semi-truck without a trailer.
The driver of the Ford, identified as Anthony Drake Villeda, died from his injuries at the scene. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was uninjured. The driver of the Peterbilt, 54-year-old Christopher Wesley Vowell, also of Hiddenite, was not injured…
