House fire spreads to adjacent residence in Oxnard, displacing 2 families

Two families and a dog were displaced Tuesday when a house fire in Oxnard spread to the neighboring residence.

Oxnard Fire Department crews responded to the incident in the 800 block of South E Street around 12:10 p.m., said Battalion Chief John Ceceña. The block is near Driffill Elementary School and the Heritage Park Apartments in the city’s Hobson Park East neighborhood.

“I can’t even think about what to take,” said Anabel Castro, who lived in the house that initially caught fire. She watched tearfully from across the street with her daughter, Yamilet Rincon, 15, while firefighters brought out charred belongings from their home.
