Charles “Tommy” Dellinger, Jr, age 81, of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.
Born on April 14, 1943 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Fannie Ledford Dellinger. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Dellinger and sister, Joyce Dayton.
Tommy was a member of Mt Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. He served in various roles over the years including Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Director. Tommy and his brother Jack owned and operated Dellinger’s Wholesale Nursery for over 60 years. His mountain laurel and native shrubbery have been delivered all over the United States. He was a devoted grandfather and seldom missed a band concert, ballgame, or event his grandchildren were a part of. Tommy will also be remembered as a faithful friend.
