Construction has begun to turn a former KFC building in Morganton into a Chipotle Mexican Grill. The restaurant is expected to open in the spring.
Annie Gradinger, a spokesperson with Chipotle Mexican Grill, said on Jan. 8 that the restaurant is still scheduled for a spring opening at 1219 Burkemont Ave. in Morganton.
Wendy Smith, director of development and design for the city of Morganton, said Chipotle still has an active zoning and building permit for the building.
