New Tennessee law requiring parental permission for minors on social media starts Jan. 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Starting Jan. 1, a new law goes into effect requiring all Tennessee children under the age of 18 to obtain parental permission before creating a social media account.

This new laws aims at protecting kids’ mental health and reducing exposure to harmful online content.

One parent told FOX 17 News she is relieved that safeguards and regulations are finally put in place to protect her children.
