COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) – Immediate evacuations have been ordered in a Tennessee city after a dam failed during the heavy rains brought by Helene.

Cocke County Mayor Rob Mathis has ordered anyone in downtown Newport to evacuate immediately, adding that Walters Dam, also known as Waterville Dam, has failed.
