PORTLAND, Ore. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will implement a strategy to help protect northern spotted owls on BLM-managed lands.
According to the BLM, the northern spotted owl population is rapidly declining, and they are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The BLM also said the two biggest threats to the population are competition from invasive barred owls, along with fire and drought-related habitat loss.
