Local hikers celebrate free access days at Washington State Parks

SPOKANE, Wash. — The weather on New Year’s Day may not have been the best for hiking, but it didn’t stop people from enjoying nature on the first Discover Pass free day of the year in Washington.

Washington offers 12 days throughout the year where hikers, kayakers, and more don’t need a Discover Pass to explore state parks.

For some though, the free day doesn’t mean they still won’t spend the $30 on the pass…
