Rain and Snow Expected in the Pacific Northwest: Light to Moderate Snowfall Expected in Washington

The Pacific Northwest is set for an active weather pattern through Monday, with valley rain and mountain snow on the horizon. According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, an upper-level low will stall over southwest British Columbia, bringing significant precipitation northeast from western Washington and Oregon. Fortunately for trick-or-treaters, most areas should remain dry long enough to enjoy the evening festivities.

As the storm progresses, the northern mountain passes, including Sherman and Loup Loup, are expected to receive light to moderate snowfall, with Sherman Pass potentially seeing over 18 inches by Saturday. Washington Pass and Loup Loup are forecasted to accumulate 6 to 12 inches, while Stevens Pass remains uncertain due to warm air potentially causing a mix with rain.

Lowland temperatures will be too warm for snow, leading to substantial rainfall, with totals ranging from 0.25 to 1.25 inches by Saturday. As the low pressure system moves into southern British Columbia, conditions will shift, bringing drier weather for the middle to end of next week.
