Update: Winter weather advisory for Northern Michigan until Wednesday morning – up to 4 inches of snow

An updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 2:48 p.m. EST in effect until Wednesday at 7 a.m. EST for Leelanau, Benzie and Grand Traverse counties.

The weather service states, “Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Localized amounts approaching 6 inches not ruled out in the higher hills of Benzie and Leelanau counties.”

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes,” explains the weather service. “Slow down and use caution while traveling. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions.”
