A deeper level of honesty

It took Matthew Nienow years to evolve enough as a person to be able to write “If Nothing,” his next book of poetry, which is set for release Jan. 21.

The Port Townsend poet describes “If Nothing” as “an honest reckoning with the grip of addiction, the learned behaviors and expectations of masculinity and fatherhood,” and feelings of guilt and shame, to try and understand them better, and thereby find redemption and forgiveness.
