It was a good run, but Mt. Vernon unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Branson Pirates by a score of 3-2. The Mountaineers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn’t forgotten their loss the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Mt. Vernon wouldn’t go down easily and took Branson into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-21, 18-25, 15-7.
Mt. Vernon’s defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-12-2. As for Branson, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8-4…
