WWU Drops Two To Open Hastings College Classic

HASTINGS, Neb. – Taking on two of the top three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference teams, RV Bethel College (4-2) and No. 24 Kansas Wesleyan (2-0), Vitoria Campos Mello with 21 kills (match-high 14 vs. KWU) and Erin Treis’ third double-double of the season (17 assists and 16 digs vs. KWU) were standouts for William Woods volleyball (2-3) on Day 1 of the Hastings College Classic.

The Owls were swept in both matches, falling 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 against the Threshers and 25-19, 25-19 and 26-24 against the Coyotes Friday at Lynn Farrell Arena.

Keeping it tight in the middle of the first set, William Woods went on top at 9-8 on an Andressa M. Borges kill and 10-9 on a Pamela Durazo kill. Those were the Owls’ only leads in set one, as Borges’ four kills led the way…
