A significant snow event is on track for late tonight into Friday. This is the rare system that looks to bring mainly just one main precip type (snow) to pretty much the entire region. The overall model trend over the last 24 hours is to spread the light to moderate snow area even north of our region, so that there will be less of a cut-off in our northern counties, and less of a north to south gradient. However it still looks like the heaviest accumulations (4-7 ish) will be in the Bootheel, TN and Ky with a bit less (2-5 ish) for the rest of MO and IL. There is a chance that accumulations could overperform as it will be pretty dry and fluffy snow. Thankfully not too much wind and drifting but slick travel is likely by Friday morning as surface temps will be well below…..
