Mt. Juliet Police Department launches ‘Operation Safe Shopper’ to curtail retail crime

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) said they are increasing efforts to protect the community from retail crime starting this week.

The effort, dubbed “Operation Safe Shopper,” is part of a larger ongoing effort to deter, intercept and prevent crime in Mt. Juliet’s shopping centers, the MJPD added. The department noted that retail theft is one of the area’s largest crime challenges.

The operation and larger strategy will include the placement of uniformed officers, the use of undercover teams and other advanced technology to combat organized retail theft.
