Murfreesboro Truck Theft Suspect Arrested Twice in 16 Days

A man who was previously arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle from Murfreesboro has found himself back in custody only 16 days after his initial arrest. Cedric Watkins, 22, of Nashville, was first arrested on September 14 after being caught driving a stolen Dodge Ram in Antioch. On Monday night, Watkins was arrested again after he allegedly fled from detectives during a traffic stop in North Nashville.

According to Metro Police, Watkins was found inside a Ford Explorer when officers attempted to pull the vehicle over near 33rd Avenue North. Authorities reported that Watkins, along with two other occupants, abandoned the SUV and attempted to flee on foot. Before his arrest, Watkins allegedly threw a backpack to the ground, which detectives later recovered. Inside the bag, officers discovered marijuana and a stolen handgun. While Watkins was apprehended, the other two individuals remain at large.

This latest arrest adds to the long list of charges Watkins faces. He was already out on a $91,000 bond from his September 14 arrest, which stemmed from his involvement in driving a stolen Dodge Ram that had been reported stolen from Murfreesboro on September 4. That earlier arrest was also the result of a police pursuit, during which the stolen truck struck a gas line on Barnes Road, causing a dangerous rupture…
