Midlands representatives divided on Laken Riley Act in Congress

On Tuesday, the newly Republican-controlled United States House of Representatives passed its first bill, the Laken Riley Act, named in honor of 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was tragically killed by a Venezuelan illegal immigrant.

The vote passed 264-159, 48 Democrats voted in favor of the bill.
