Perez, Middleton run over Timberline

MIDDLETON — In a showdown between two 6A Southern Idaho Conference Foothills Division upstarts, Middleton rode Jake Perez and its ball-hawking defense to a 21-14 win over visiting Timberline on a breezy Friday night.

Perez turned 25 carries into 285 yards — including 192 in the second half — with a pair of touchdowns. Meanwhile, the stifling Middleton (4-2, 3-0) defense got two interceptions, one apiece from Drew Holman and Weston Mills.

“We’ve been working really hard in practice and played a great game tonight,” Perez said. “The defense did amazing and really kept us in the game. The offensive line did a great job blocking, holes were there, and we just made it happen.”…
