Bay Area man allegedly driving realistic fake CHP car arrested

A Bay Area man has been arrested on suspicion of impersonating law enforcement with a realistic fake California Highway Patrol car, and police are now seeking anyone who might have been pulled over by the ersatz vehicle. On Wednesday morning, San Rafael police officers were patrolling the area near Bellam Blvd. and Interstate 580 when they noticed a Chevrolet Camaro marked with CHP insignia. Although it was a car model used by CHP about a decade ago, the officers initially thought it was a fellow officer and waved. They then noticed the driver wasn’t wearing a uniform.

“Officers became suspicious and made a U-turn,” a news release from the San Rafael Police Department said.
