Correctional officers jam courtroom for arraignment of 3 charged in Souza-Baranowski attack

WORCESTER — Three inmates charged in connection with a Sept. 18 stabbing attack on multiple guards at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster were arraigned Wednesday in a courtroom packed with correctional officers including Stephen Adams, a guard who was stabbed repeatedly in the incident.

Wearing shackles and red prison-issued jumpsuits, Jose R. Crespo, Heriberto Rivera-Negron and Jeffrey Tapia were arraigned separately in Worcester Superior Court in front of Judge Karin M. Bell.
