Man struck while riding scooter was convicted felon, faces new charges for possession of handgun

NASHUA, NH – A man who was struck while riding his scooter back in April now faces for possession of a firearm, found in his backpack while being treated for his injuries. Due to his prior felony crimes, he is prohibited from possession of a gun, police said.

On January 22, 2025, the Nashua Police Department arrested 29-year-old Christopher Gagnon, of Dracut, Mass., on a felony warrant for Armed Career Criminal, a Special Felony, and Acts Prohibited: Possession of Marijuana (> 1oz), with intent to distribute, a Special Felony.

On April 29, 2024, officers went to the intersection of Orange Street and Concord streets for a motor vehicle collision involving a scooter. During the accident investigation, Gagnon was receiving medical treatment, and it was discovered he had a firearm. The firearm and backpack were taken from Gagnon per medical protocol. Officers later discovered Gagnon was a convicted felon and should not be in possession of a firearm.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were assigned to further the investigation. They obtained a search warrant for Gagnon’s backpack, where marijuana and items consistent with the sale of drugs were discovered. A criminal records check on Gagnon was conducted and confirmed that Gagnon had been convicted of three previous felonious robberies, thus making his possession of a firearm a Special Felony…
