WINCHENDON ― Youth softball players in uniforms of blue tie-dyed shirts and sweatshirts chanted and cheered from the dugout to encourage fellow teammates. With the bases loaded, it was time for them to get their teammates to dance. “Hey you, on one, let me see you wiggle!” the team yelled from behind the fence.
The Winchendon 10U softball team went on to lose to Westminster in their final game of fall ball and finished the season 5-2-1. More important than the wins and statistics, though, are the lessons and foundation the players are gaining through the program.
At the American Legion Field in Winchendon, these impressionable young players are learning to love the game and build a passion for softball while developing fundamentals and skills that they will use for years to come…
