Cheatham County officials confirm heat ‘contributing factor’ in teen’s death

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Cheatham County officials confirmed heat was a “contributing factor” in one high schooler’s August death.

Sycamore County High School student Tristin Franklin died in Pleasant View on Aug. 27. The Cheatham County EMS Director confirmed Franklin died of natural causes, calling heat a “contributing factor.”

The district released a statement after his death, which read in part:

O ur heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the student’s family and friends during this difficult time. The impact of such a loss is immeasurable.

Tristin’s father, Phil, said Tristin had discovered a passion for running during his freshman year of high school. The Franklin family held a memorial run and fundraiser for the Tristin Franklin Foundation earlier this month.
