Goodlettsville’s Larry Cantrell, one of the fastest high school football players to ever play in the Nashville area, died on Thursday. He was 57.
Cantrell was the three-time Tennessean Trackman of the Year (1983-85). He won the Class A/AA boys state track championship in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter sprints three straight years and the long jump in his junior and senior years. He set the state record in the 400, which stood until 2019, and the 100, which stood until 2023.
