Hartford cracking down on illegal ATVs, dirt bikes

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The city of Hartford is cracking down on dirt bikes, using new technology to track down offenders and seize bikes.

“Get a large group of officers a small task force for the day and will really focus on apprehending and seizing some of these ATVs it actually has been a really large complaint from our residence,” Sgt. Chris Mastroianni said.

Detectives said that online surveillance, cameras and drones help officers find gathering points where ATV riders meet up. They said that they’re able to find ATV riders that are blowing red lights, driving too fast and generally not following the rules of the road.
