Cheshire advocates protest alleged ‘mistreatment’ at animal shelter

CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — Animal advocates are planning a rally on the Cheshire town green to protest what they call the mistreatment of animals at the town’s animal control facility. This comes as a town hall meeting is planned for Tuesday evening.

The animal advocates say there are two dozen dogs at animal control who were seized because they were living in poor conditions. They say the animals are being mistreated as well.

This is not the first time they have protested conditions. They did this a month ago before demanding answers at a town council meeting.

However, since then, the state’s Department of Agriculture has investigated the facility and found that animals were placed in cages that did not meet minimum size requirements while their main enclosures were cleaned…
