‘Ghost car’ crackdown sees over 73,000 vehicles seized and officials warn of more tows to come as they clear roads

DRIVERS are being warned over “ghost cars” being seized in the city of New York.

Officials have announced that more than 73,000 of the so-called vehicles have been taken already since the start of Mayor Eric Adams’ administration in 2022.

Figures released show that the NYPD and the Department of Sanitation have removed more than 7,500 ghost cars and 27,000 illegal motorized vehicles from the streets just this year alone.

What’s more, roughly 3,200 cars have been impounded and 700 people have been arrested for alleged toll evasion…
