H.S. Cross Country Roundup: Lancaster’s Marisa Heil breaks another record; Falcons place first

Lancaster girls: The Lady Gales battled the heat and the hills on their home course at the Bob Reall Invitational, extending their winning streak in the varsity race by placing first out of 16 teams in the Division I competition.

Marisa Heil led the Gales by winning the race and breaking her school record in a time of 17:51. Harper Allen followed in third (18:57), freshman Amelia Fries placed seventh (19:32), Ava Parrett took 11th (19:44) and Brooke Derringer rounded the scoring out in 12th place (19:47). Pushing the Gales toward victory were Hadley Allen in 33rd, Ava Zeiders in 46th, Lily Carpico in 60th, Alia Hopple in 68th and Mackenzie Rudduck in 117th.

The underclassmen had a fantastic day on the course as well. The Lady Gales placed second out of seven teams in the freshman/sophomore race. Leading the Gales was Katie Coy in second, Callie Kretzmann in ninth, Brenna Jarrett in 10th, Annabelle Walter in 13th, Alayna Knoch in 17th, Chelsey Hunt in 18th, Emma Loudon in 36th and Luna Safreed in 43rd…
