NEW LEXINGTON — The demand for qualified teachers is climbing with over 50,000 positions nationwide that need filled. In response to this, New Lexington High School has decided to take on a new trades program called Teachers Academy to hopefully interest more students in becoming a teacher.
The Teachers Academy program is a college credit plus course through Muskingum University. Each student taking the program has an account and ID number through Muskingum. The course is structured for high school students to be able to earn real college credits that will contribute to their future careers.
The seniors taking this class this year will receive three credits and the juniors will receive four. Some expectations students are required to meet is the completion of ED110: History of Education Curriculum and ED112: Diversity in Education through online courses…
