Zaxby’s Expands Reach with First Store in Phoenix Area and New Location in Ohio’s Liberty Township

Georgia-based fast-casual restaurant Zaxby’s is expanding its wings with new locations in both Arizona and Ohio, marking significant growth for the popular chicken chain known for its comfort food offerings. In Arizona, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the first Zaxby’s in the Phoenix area, located in Queen Creek at Vineyard Towne Center, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. Franchisees Brian and Jessica Nelson have inked a deal to open six locations, with construction expected to be completed within six months, situating the first Zaxby’s in a prime spot near a Target and Sprouts Farmers Market, with hopes of introducing the chain to a new market.

The Nelsons are not alone in their venture, as Jesse Rozio of Ignite Commercial Real Estate has already secured three leases for additional locations these including one at the intersection of Signal Butte and Queen Creek Roads, while the town of Gilbert will welcome Zaxby’s in the Gilmore, a mixed-use development. Simultaneously, in Ohio, the Liberty Township trustees have given the green light for a Zaxby’s restaurant and drive-thru as part of the Freedom Pointe development, anchored by Costco, with a plan for a 56-seat establishment, as detailed by WLWT, marking the brand’s return to Ohio following the closure of a Columbus location 16 years prior.

“I knew that Zaxby’s was such a great brand that we wanted to try to bring it here and it’d be a great legacy for us to add to our portfolio of what we do for a living,” Brian Nelson said, as per Phoenix Business Journal. The enthusiastic franchisees have the valley’s southeast territory within their purview, focusing on Queen Creek, Chandler, Gilbert, and Mesa.
