CARMEL, N.Y.—Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville is warning the public about a fake social media post circulating nationwide that has recently appeared on accounts in Putnam County.
The post falsely claims there is a serial killer on the loose and includes an image of a wanted individual, along with names of alleged “suspects” and a supposed “victim.” Authorities have confirmed that the post is untrue.
