Funding announced for dog park, accessible playground at Beaver Island State Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Senator Sean Ryan has announced $1 million in funding for Beaver Island State Park in Grand Island that will allow for the creation of a new dog park and three accessible upgrades, including an accessible playground.

The new dog park is expected to be north of the main parking lot and stretch for 4 acres. Over a quarter of the million dollar grant will be dedicated to it. A dog wash station, leash posts and a waste station will be included.

A new playground with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity will use $500,000 of the funding. In addition, an accessible ramp connecting the main Falconwood building to the water will use $170,000. The Americans with Disabilities Act compliant boardwalk ramp is expected to be 60 feet long and will allow visitors with disabilities access to the waterfront…
