Here’s when Lexington trash collection services will resume

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The Lexington Division of Waste Management has rescheduled garbage collection missed earlier in the week due to the winter weather .

The trash collection missed Monday will be picked up on Thursday, and residents with regular Thursday pickup will still have their trash taken on the same day. The collection scheduled for Tuesday will be picked up Friday.

City leaders asked residents to put their carts out the evening before collection. The trucks will work a double route and may start earlier in the morning. Waste management environmental outreach specialist Lauren Monahan said there are a few things people can do to make this process run even smoother.

“We’re asking residents to clear the area around their carts, to not place it on top of a snowdrift. We want to make it easy for our employees once they’re out in the cold weather tomorrow and Friday to access the container and then make sure there’s a safe place for it to go back once it’s in service,” Monahan said.

If a business has a dumpster that is usually emptied on Monday or Tuesday, they will be served on Thursday or Friday, depending on how accessible the dumpster is. To help with that, everyone is asked to clear snow from the dumpster and make sure the locks aren’t frozen…
