Indiana-based developer proposes 180-unit Bloomington apartment complex

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – A South Bend, Indiana, based real estate developer with offices across the Midwest and Eastern US, is proposing a 180-unit apartment complex off one of the busiest streets in the city.

Plans submitted for a Jan. 15 Bloomington Zoning Board of Appeals meeting show that Holladay Property Service Midwest wants to use 7.46 acres at 1312 E. Empire Street to construct more than 4,000 square feet of apartment space.

The property used to be office space and a technology facility, but that was demolished in 2011. It is near Eastland Mall and the Empire Plaza Shopping Center.

The plan calls for 94 single-bedroom units and 86 two-bedroom units spread across seven buildings, plus green spaces and a dog park. 331 parking spaces will surround the buildings.

It’s the latest of multiple proposed projects hoping to ease the housing crunch in the Twin Cities…
