South Bend considers annexing land for next phase of Lafayette Falls home construction

SOUTH BEND — An annexation proposal for up to 110 new homes south of the Lafayette Falls subdivision is under consideration by the Common Council.

Developers are asking to bring a 44-acre tract south of Kern Road and west of U.S. 31 into the city for 100 to 110 homes that would be about 1,800 square feet in size and in what the developers call the moderate price range, according to Richard Nussbaum, attorney representing developer William Loudin. Nussbaum and Chris Godlewski, engineer from Abonmarche , presented the annexation petition to the council at its Monday, Jan. 13 meeting.
