INDIANAPOLIS — Two former Indianapolis mayors and a former Indianapolis Public Schools board president are among the of group of six current and former officials calling for the district to make “structural changes” in a letter released Friday, Jan. 3.
The group is made up of former Indianapolis mayors Bart Peterson and Greg Ballard, former state representative and former IPS president Mary Ann Sullivan, and three current city councilors: Dr. Carlos W. Perkins, Leroy Robinson and majority leader Maggie A. Lewis.
The group says Indianapolis has been known as a “hotbed for education innovation” for more than two decades, but that leaders must make significant changes to “ensure we sustain this progress.”…
