Indiana is a source state for ghost guns, says ATF

INDIANAPOLIS — The gun used in the killing of the United Healthcare CEO is a privately made firearm, often called a ghost gun.

Ghost guns are homemade, built from purchased kits or made using a 3D printer.

“Me as a private citizen, I can make a firearm for my personal use, and it’s perfectly legal,” said John Nokes, Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). “The problem is, if I make a firearm and then I try to transfer it to you, that’s where it becomes illegal, and I have to have a license in order for that to happen.”…
