An Indianapolis man has been handed a 50-year prison sentence for a spree of 15 armed robberies that terrorized the city over four months from December 2021 to March 2022. Jovonni Sanders faced justice after pleading guilty to one count of Attempted Armed Robbery, 12 counts of Armed Robbery, and two counts of Robbery—all felonies of varying degrees. According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Sanders’ crime wave covered a broad swath of establishments, including gas stations, a liquor store, a general store, several Dollar Generals, and one restaurant throughout Marion County. As FOX59 highlights, these robberies had altogether escaped the injuries, evoking a sense of reprieve in a community rattled by the potential for violence. The sentence comprises 40 years of incarceration followed by 10 years suspended.
