A referendum for a new school in Washington was passed

WASHINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — Washington voters voted to pass a referendum to help build a new grade school.

An overwhelming majority voted to approve the measure, which gave $23 million in school building bonds to District 52. The referendum received 1,438 “yes” votes, which was just over 62%.

School leaders said the Lincoln Grade School, built in 1949, is in bad shape. It has poor air quality and ventilation, limited accessibility and small classrooms. They said it would cost more to renovate the school than to build a new, modern one…
